U.S. Soccer announced on Tuesday that Austin FC Academy midfielder Ervin Torres has been invited to the upcoming U-16 U.S. Men’s Youth National Team domestic training camp, taking place from August 18-24 in Chula Vista, Calif. The call-up is Torres’ third involvement with a U.S. Youth National Team program in 2022 and first at the U-16 level, following two prior call-ups at the U-15 level.
“Ervin has had a fantastic year with us, and we’re proud of him for continuing to earn call-ups to U.S. Youth National Teams,” said Austin FC Academy General Manager Tyson Wahl. “He brings a tremendous skill set, attitude, and work ethic to our academy, and he has a bright future ahead.”
At the 2022 MLS NEXT Cup Playoffs in July, Torres registered multiple impressive performances for the Austin FC U-15 team, including scoring a goal in the Round of 16 against Los Angeles FC.Torres is 1 of 5 players from the Austin FC organization to earn a U.S. Youth National Team call-up in 2022, alongside Owen Wolff (U-19), Bryan Arellano (U-19), Anthony Gonzalez (U-19), and Micah Burton (U-17).
