Abner

Austin FC announced on Monday that Austin FC Academy player Abner Zuniga has been invited to the upcoming U-15 U.S. Men’s Youth National Team training camp, taking place from August 31-September 6 in Chula Vista, Calif. The call-up is Zuniga’s first involvement with a U.S. Youth National Team program in 2022.

“Abner is a talented, hard-working young player,” said Austin FC Academy General Manager Tyson Wahl. “We’re very proud of him for earning this honor to participate in his first youth national team camp this year, and his call-up shows the advancement of our Academy and the opportunities and exposure available to young players in our system.”

Zuniga competed with both the Austin FC U-14 and U-15 teams last season. While with Austin FC’s U-15 team at the 2022 MLS NEXT Cup Playoffs in July, Zuniga scored an incredible long-range strike in a quarterfinal match against Inter Miami CF.

Zuniga is the sixth player from the Austin FC organization to receive a U.S. Youth National Team call-up in 2022, alongside Owen Wolff (U-19), Bryan Arellano (U-19), Anthony Gonzalez (U-19), Micah Burton (U-17), and Ervin Torres (U-16, U-15).
