On Saturday morning, Austin FC welcomed members of EcoRise’s Youth Climate Council to Q2 Stadium for a behind-the-scenes look at the club’s sustainability efforts.
The group of local high school students participated in a sustainability tour of Q2 Stadium, which is recognized as a TRUE Certification for Zero Waste facility. Austin FC staff shared how the club works to reduce waste and divert materials from landfills, including during major events like the 2025 MLS All-Star Game hosted in Austin.
In partnership with Major League Soccer's Greener Goals initiative, students learned how signage used during 2025 All-Star Week at Q2 Stadium was collected and transformed into reusable cinch bags rather than being discarded. Each participant received one of the repurposed bags at the end of the session, highlighting how creative reuse can give materials a second life while reducing waste.
The visit was hosted as part of Austin FC’s Evergreen platform, the club’s commitment to advancing sustainability and environmental responsibility in the Austin community.
