Austin FC II come back from its mid-season break to play its ninth away match of the season this Sunday, in a mid-day match against Sporting KC II for a 12:00 p.m. CT kickoff at Children’s Mercy Victory Field in Kansas City, MO. The match will be available to watch on MLSNEXTPro.com.
Austin FC II Outlook
Austin FC II are two for two this season against Sporting KC II. In their first meetup the Verde & Black won the extra point in penalties. Most recently, ATXFC II took all three points in a shutout win over SKC II in June.
The Verde & Black come off a home win against in-state rivals, Houston Dynamo 2 with forward Vlad Dănciuțiu scoring his first Austin FC II goal, the team doubled their lead before the half from an own goal. ATXFC II displayed its defensive skills in the second half to keep Dynamo Dos off the board with the Houston team only managing two shots on goal in the entire 90 minutes.
Following Friday’s derby win, the Verde & Black find themselves in seventh place in the MLS NEXT Pro Western Conference. With ten games left in the season and multiple teams close in points, Austin FC II will look to Sunday’s match to continue its climb up the leaderboard.
Sporting KC II Outlook
Sporting KC II found its first win of the 2025 season under new head coach Istvan Urbanyi, in 3-1 away win over LAFC 2 with goals from three different players. Forward Medgy Alexandre found himself as the team’s top-scorer following the LAFC 2 win, breaking a tie with forward Bryann Arellano.
SKC II now come off a second win over Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 Thursday. The team tallied another three goals all in the second half to erase a two-goal deficit. Alexandre tucked another two goals under his belt to extend his lead as SKC II’s top-scorer.
Coming off a busy week, Sporting KC II now return home to host Austin FC II for the team’s second Sunday match in a row.
