Vlad Dănciuțiu scored his first Austin FC II goal, and the team kept a shutout to earn a 2-0 win over in-state rivals Houston Dynamo 2 on Friday night at Parmer Field.
Dănciuțiu opened the scoring in the 35th minute. Diego Abarca beat his defender with a bit of quality play on the right flank and fizzed the ball across the face of goal for Dănciuțiu to tap in. ATXFC II doubled its lead via an own goal before halftime.
The Verde & Black switched to a focused defensive effort in the second half. Dynamo Dos was unable to find the net only putting up two shots on goal the whole 90 minutes. ATXFC Academy loanees Chuy Moreno and Chris Avila featured in the closing minutes as the home side took all three points, sending Austin into sixth place in the MLS NEXT Pro Western Conference.
