Van Rijn Scores First Austin Goal in Draw with Dynamo 2

Austin FC II drew 1-1 with Houston Dynamo 2 on Friday night at Parmer Field, as defender Nico Van Rijn scored his first career MLS NEXT Pro goal for the Verde & Black.

The captain Van Rijn was quickest to react as Austin kept a loose ball in the box alive, heading the ball past the Dynamo 2 goalkeeper to give ATXFC II the lead just before halftime.

Though Verde & Black continued to tally more shots on goal than Houston, the visitors scored an equalizer in the 69th minute. Austin FC II continued to search for the deciding goal but was unable to find the net and the match went to penalties. ATXFC II fell 4-3 in the shootout.
