A second half goal from Jorge Alastuey helped Austin FC II earn a 1-0 home win over Sporting Kansas City II on Friday night at Parmer Field. The victory lifts ATXFC II above the playoff line, and the team has now lost just once in its last eight matches.
The Verde & Black put up a strong offensive effort, maintaining control of the ball to creating chances throughout the first half though they were unable to find the net. Jimmy Farkarlun was particularly dangerous, and goalkeeper Charlie Farrar made two saves at the other end of the pitch to send the match into the half scoreless.
Jorge Alastuey opened the second half with a goal from the center of the box to send Austin FC II into the lead. The goal was his third of the season, tied with Peter Grogan for most on the team. Fans got to see a debut from defender Jules Bery in the closing minutes as the Verde & Black preserved a shutout to claim three points.
