The Verde & Black come off a loss at home against conference-leaders St. Louis City 2. City 2 controlled the first half, getting four goals from three different players. Austin FC II responded with two high-quality goals to close the deficit. Ervin Torres was the first to put Austin on the board with a strike from outside the box followed by another excellent shot by Jorge Alastuey in the top left corner.
Despite the defeat, ATXFC II has still collected 11 points from its last five matches, a solid run of form which has helped the team climb the table.

With the extra point, Real Monarchs find itself right above Austin FC II in the MLS NEXT Pro Western Conference standings in eighth place, only besting the Verde & Black on goal difference. The teams’ proximity to each other in the table adds another layer of importance to this weekend’s contest.
