Austin FC II will make the trip up to Minnesota to face MNUFC2 on Sunday, September 10 at 5 p.m. CT. The two sides played to a 1-1 draw in their first meeting with Austin winning the penalty kick shootout, 6-5. 

Austin FC II Outlook

As the season nears its end, every match and point will be crucial for ATXFC II. With only three matches left, a win against MNUFC2 will help them stay near the top of the table. Currently, there are only two points separating the second seed from the fourth seed, making Sunday’s contest even more important.

The Verde & Black clinched their spot in the 2023 MLS NEXT Pro playoffs on Friday against LAFC2 as the two teams played to a 1-1 draw with ATXFC II winning the ensuing shootout, 5-4. Captain Joe Hafferty scored his first goal of the season and goalkeeper Damian Las made a crucial PK save to help Austin earn two points.

Austin’s top three goal-scorers, Valentin Noël, Sebastien Pineau, and David Rodríguez will aim to increase their goal tally on Sunday. Rodríguez, who recently made his second appearance since returning from an injury on Friday, played for 38 minutes and converted his penalty kick. MNUFC2 has conceded the third most goals in the Western Conference, making Sunday's match a great opportunity for ATXFC II’s players to increase their goal-scoring records.

MNUFC2 Outlook

The hosts will be looking to avoid dropping their third match in four games on Sunday. Currently, MNUFC2 is ranked seventh, just above the playoff line. However, only three points separate the fifth seed from the eighth-place team in the standings.

MNUFC2 earned two points at home in their last outing, tying 2-2 against Earthquakes II then won the thrilling PK shootout, 9-8.

Kameron Lacy leads the attack for MNUFC2. He has nine goals and two assists in eight appearances this season and has scored two goals in the last four games. Diogo Pacheco is the team leader in goal contributions with eight goals and four assists. MNUFC2’s has proven to be an aggressive side as they have let off the second most shots in the league and their 44 goals rank fourth in the Western Conference.
