Austin FC II Outlook

Austin FC II come off a win over Ventura County at home. The Verde & Black snagged all three points to keep them safe above the playoff line with a four-point gap.

A beautiful long ball by Rubén Bonachera found Micah Burton in the center of the box for Burton’s fourth goal of the year in the first half. In goal, Marcus Alstrup kept VCFC off the board until the start of the second half with a goal by Dylan Vanney.

More key saves by Alstrup held the match at a draw before susbsitute Diego Abarca proved to be the difference-maker, scoring the tiebreaker in added time.

Just last month, the Verde & Black towered over LAFC 2 with a 4-1 win at home in their first meetup of the season. All four goals were produced by different players, highlighting the team’s versatility on offense. LAFC 2’s only goal that night was a result of a penalty kick by DeCarlo Guerra.

ATXFC II will look to capture another three points over LAFC 2 to push them higher up the MLS NEXT Pro Western Conference standings.

LAFC 2 Outlook

LAFC 2 enter their meeting with Austin in good form, most recently earning a shutout 4-0 win over North Texas SC Sunday night. LAFC 2’s first goal came from a penalty kick by DeCarlo Guerra, reminiscent of the team’s goal against Austin FC II last month. North Texas SC’s performance was hindered by a red card in the 36th minute, leaving the home team playing a man down. LAFC 2’s Sebastian Nava produced another goal before the half to solidify the lead. Two goals from academy product Gavin Zambrano left LAFC 2 as the sure winners of the night.

LAFC 2 sit in 10th place in the MLS NEXT Pro Western Conference standings, just below North Texas and in need of points to close the narrow two-point gap to the playoff line. The Los Angeles team will look to capitalize on their momentum and climb up the table.
