Austin FC II heads back to the Rocky Mountains to play its 10th away match of the season and third matchup against Colorado Rapids 2 this Friday for a 9:00 p.m. CT kickoff. The match will be available to watch on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.
Austin FC II Outlook
Austin FC II sits four points behind Colorado in the Western Conference standings following a draw against North Texas SC at home. The Verde & Black held North Texas SC to only two attempts in the first half before the visitors found the net early in the second half. Jorge Alastuey scored the equalizer in stoppage time with his team-high seventh goal of the season.
Despite picking up just one point, ATXFC II is still enjoying a good run of form having lost only once in the team’s last nine matches.
Austin FC II won its first match against Rapids 2 with four goals in the season opener. Most recently, Rapids 2 took all three points at home against ATXFC II in June despite the Verde & Black having more possession and more shots on goal.
Colorado Rapids 2 Outlook
Colorado Rapids 2 sit in fourth place in the Western Conference standings in a tight battle for the top spots. Just one point separates them from second place Ventura County.
Most recently, Colorado collected one point from a matchup with conference leaders St. Louis. The teams managed two goals each, including a team-high ninth of the season for Mamadou Billo Diop reached a new team-high scoring his ninth goal.
Rapids 2 like to build from a solid defensive foundation. Their five clean sheets this year rank in the top 10 in MLS NEXT Pro, while their 44.9 percent average possession ranks in among the lowest of all teams. ATXFC II will be wary of Colorado looking to counterattack on Friday night.
