Austin FC II returns home for the team’s 13th home match of the season under the Parmer lights this Friday against St. Louis City 2 for a 7:30 p.m. CT kickoff. The match will be available to watch on MLSNEXTPro.com.
Fans attending the match should note that PopStroke is now officially open at The Pitch, with food and drinks once again available for all matches at Parmer Field. Outside food and beverages will no longer be permitted.
Austin FC II Outlook
Austin FC II soared above Tacoma Defiance last week. Djaka Barro managed his first goal of the season to put the Verde & Black on the board as goalkeeper Charlie Farrar did well to deter Tacoma. An action packed second half saw Tacoma’s Jackson Khoury netting the equalizer just to be quickly shut down a minute later with a goal by Jorge Alastuey to send ATXFC II home with all three points.
The Verde & Black have fallen in their last two matches against St. Louis but with a tight table in the MLS NEXT Pro Western Conference, ATXFC II will look to upset the conference-leaders to stay safe above the playoff line.
St. Louis City 2 Outlook
St. Louis City 2 held on to an extra point last time out against Minnesota United FC 2, winning the shootout following a 1-1 draw. With a playoff spot already clinched and an 11-point gap to the second-placed team in the table, St. Louis’ remaining motivation is to clinch the number 1 seed in the Western Conference, which they could do with two or more points in Austin on Friday.
Mykhi Joyner is the team's most dangerous offensive player, leading St. Louis with 14 goals this season. Following close behind, Brendan McSorley and Miguel Perez have tallied eight goals each as part of a multi-faceted attack.
