Austin FC II returns home to Parmer Field at St. David’s Performance Center to face in-state rival Houston Dynamo 2 at 8 p.m. CT on Friday, July 7. The teams have split the season series in their previous two meetings, with each team earning a victory on their home turf.

Austin FC II Outlook

The Verde & Black finished a busy month of June with a scoreless draw at Real Monarchs last Friday. Goalkeeper Damian Las made two saves in the penalty kick shootout that gave Austin an extra point on the night. The result kept ATXFC II unbeaten for the month, finishing with a 5-0-1 record and earning 14 out of a possible 18 points in the month.

In contrast to June, Austin only has three matches in July, but two are at home where the team has won seven (7) contests, the most in the league.

Austin allowed just one goal in the six-match month of June, which came from the penalty spot. The team’s defense has earned a league-best eight (8) clean sheets, with five (5) occurring in the June stretch. With 51 shots faced this season, ATXFC II has a league-best save percentage (80.4 percent) as they’ve surrendered a league-low 10 goals.

In the Club’s first-ever match, Austin defeated Dynamo Dos 2-1 on March 24 with Valentin Noël netting both goals for the Verde & Black and scoring the game-winner in the 83rd minute.

Houston Dynamo 2 Outlook

Dynamo Dos are coming off a 1-0 away defeat against Tacoma Defiance on July 2. The result is the team’s third straight loss after having a three-game winning streak of their own.

Diego Gonzalez leads the attack for Houston with six (6) goals, four (4) of which came in consecutive matches from May 14 to June 11 to help Houston go unbeaten during that stretch. Yair González is second on the team in goals scored with four (4) this season. He found the net in back-to-back matches in mid-June. Standing between the posts for Houston is Xavier Valdez, who is aiming for his second clean sheet this season.

Houston came away victorious in the previous matchup with Austin, winning 2-0 on May 28. Diego Gonzalez and Charles Auguste found the net for Dynamo Dos to even the season series.

Friday’s match will be the last of three matchups between the two sides this season.
