Austin FC II announced today that the Club has signed free agent Marcel Ruszel to its MLS NEXT Pro roster. The 21-year-old midfielder from Chicago joins on a contract through 2027 with an option to extend for 2028. Ruszel will be eligible to make his debut beginning with the team’s July 25 match vs. Houston.
Ruszel spent time in the youth systems of clubs in the United States, Poland, and Italy. While with FC Cincinnati’s academy in 2022, he appeared in eight (8) MLS NEXT Pro matches for FC Cincinnati 2, tallying a goal and an assist. He then moved to Torino where he made 65 appearances for the club’s U-19 and U-20 teams between 2022 and 2024. In the 2024-2025 season, he played for Stal Stalowa Wola in Poland’s Betclic 1 Liga.
Holding dual citizenship in the United States and Poland, Ruszel made five (5) appearances for the U.S. U-19 youth national team and represented Poland at the U-15 and U-16 levels.
