Austin FC II announced today the team signed winger Emmanuel Johnson to its MLS NEXT Pro roster. Johnson joins ATXFC II on a season-long loan with a purchase option from Hibernian FC of Scotland.

“I’m thrilled to be a part of Austin FC II for the team’s inaugural season, and grateful for this opportunity,” said Johnson. “I’ll do everything I can to help the squad achieve its goals.”

Johnson, 19, was born in Fairfield, California. He played for the Sacramento Republic FC Academy and the Barça Residency Academy in Arizona before signing with Hibernian in February 2022. Johnson spent 2022 on loan at two different clubs – first at Charleston Battery, where he scored one (1) goal in 13 USL Championship matches, and then at FC Edinburgh of Scotland’s League One, where he registered two (2) goals and one (1) assist in 12 appearances.

“Emmanuel is a talented young player with a bright future, and we’re excited to have him join Austin FC II,” said Austin FC Interim Sporting Director Sean Rubio. “We wish him a very warm welcome to Austin.”
