Austin FC II began its 2025 MLS NEXT Pro season with a free-scoring 4-2 win over Colorado Rapids 2 on Friday night at Parmer Field. Jimmy Farkarlun recorded a goal and two assists in the victory.
ATXFC II came out of the gates flying. Farkarlun netted the team's first goal with a powerful strike on a counterattack in the 3rd minute, then assisted Ervin Torres with a cross from the right flank.
Offseason signing Jorge Alastuey marked his debut with a goal and an assist as well. The Zaragoza, Spain native set up Farkarlun for the opener and added an accurate left-footed strike from outside the box in the 25th minute.
Farkarlun then found Peter Grogan with a low ball across the face of goal which the Irishman tucked in on 32 minutes.
The visitors got themselves back in the game in the second half when Colton Swan scored two goals in two minutes, but it proved to be too little too late and the Verde & Black took home all three points.
