Austin FC II drew 1-1 against Real Monarchs on Sunday night at Zions Bank Stadium, erasing a one-goal deficit in the second half with a goal by Jimmy Farkarlun.
Both keepers tallied one save in a scoreless first half. An Austin FC II own goal gave the Monarchs the lead after the break, but the Verde & Black responded well and got back on equal ground just six minutes later through Farkarlun. Another attempt by top-scorer Peter Grogan two minutes later showed a glimmer of ATXFC II’s cohesion, only to be caught offside, and three more key saves by goalkeeper Charlie Farrar kept the home team at bay.
Despite an added five minutes, neither team was able find a winner as the match went to penalties. The Verde & Black tucked four into the net during penalties but fell short with Real Monarchs converting all five of their attempts.
