Austin FC II took home three points from an away match vs. Sporting KC II on Sunday afternoon, beating their opponents 3-1 to move into fourth place in the MLS NEXT Pro Western Conference. ATXFC is now 5-2-1 in its last eight matches.
Austin FC Academy product Chuy Moreno made his starting debut in an exciting first half. An early goal by Medgy Alexandre gave Sporting KC II the lead, though it was short lived with ATXFC II captain Jorge Alastuey finding the equalizer just two minutes later. Diego Abarca nodded down a cross from Jimmy Farkarlun in the box, which Alastuey finished. The Verde & Black took the lead when Vlad Dănciuțiu scored his second goal of the season, with Farkarlun tallying his second assist of the match.
Sporting KC II opened the half with multiple attempts though were unsuccessful in finding the net thanks to goalkeeper Charlie Farrar. Alastuey added another goal in the 72nd minute to double the Verde & Black’s advantage. With six goals now to his name this season, Alastuey became the team’s top-scorer.
New signee Marcus Ruszel made his debut in Verde & Black in the closing minutes of the match.
