Jorge Alastuey scored a stoppage time equalizer to earn Austin FC II a 1-1 draw with North Texas SC on Friday night at Parmer Field. It was Alastuey's third goal in his last two matches, taking him to a team-high seven on the season.
Austin FC II controlled the first half leading in total shots, with the Verde & Black’s defense allowing two North Texas attempts. Alastuey and Ervin Torres managed two shots each.
North Texas found the net early in the second half with goal by Caleb Swann to open the scoring. Austin FC II maintained a strong offensive effort, doubling its total shots in the second half. Alastuey finally found the breakthrough the team's performance deserved in the 91st minute, finishing a cross from Academy product Chuy Moreno for Moreno's first goal contribution of his professional career.
In the ensuing penalty shootout, both teams made each of their first five attempts before Austin missed in the sixth round, allowing the visitors to collect the extra point.
