Austin FC II won its third consecutive home match and extended its unbeaten streak at the start of the season to five (5) matches with a 2-0 win over St. Louis CITY SC 2 on Sunday night at Parmer Field at St. David’s Performance Center. David Rodríguez opened the scoring, and Austin FC Academy product Micah Burton sealed the victory with his first professional goal.

Austin FC II created a handful of chances in the first half. Alfonso Ocampo-Chávez and EJ Johnson came closest, but the match remained scoreless at the break.

Valentin Noël nearly scored to start the second half with a shot that caromed off the crossbar. ATXFC II finally found the breakthrough in the 66th-minute, scoring via a beautiful sequence. The move started with a great touch by Burton to Ocampo-Chávez. Ocampo-Chávez found Rodríguez inside the box, who flicked it over the goalie for his first goal of the season. The Verde & Black nearly doubled their lead just two minutes later as Ocampo-Chávez forced the CITY2 keeper to make a diving save.

The second goal eventually arrived through Burton in the 88th-minute. The 17-year-old opened his professional account by rolling in a calm finish to the bottom right corner, set up by Ocampo-Chávez’s second assist of the night.
