Austin FC II will close out the month on Sunday, July 30 at Parmer Field at St. David’s Performance Center against LA Galaxy II at 8 p.m. CT. The two sides played to a 1-1 draw in their first meeting on April 23.

Austin FC II Outlook

The Verde & Black played in a thrilling match against Colorado Rapids 2, resulting in a 3-3 draw on Sunday, July 23. Sebastien Pineau, CJ Fodrey, and Sal Mazzaferro all found the net within the first 30 minutes of the match.

ATXFC II has scored 10 goals in the last five matches, seven of which were in their last two home games. Pineau has recorded four goals in the last five outings while Fodrey has three during that stretch. This season, Austin has the third-best goal differential in MLSNP at +15 with eleven different goal scorers. Through 19 matches this season, ATXFC II has allowed 13 goals, the fewest in MLSNP.

With only nine games remaining in the regular season, each match and point earned becomes critical in securing a spot in the playoffs. Should ATXFC II win on Sunday, they would maintain their position in second place within the Western Conference as they head into August.

LA Galaxy II Outlook

On July 16, Galaxy II played to a 1-1 draw against Tacoma Defiance in their last MLS NEXT Pro match. LA hosted a friendly on July 22 against Welsh side Wrexham A.F.C. and suffered a 4-0 defeat with all four goals coming in the second half.

Galaxy II is riding a four-match unbeaten streak, their longest of the season. Aaron Bibout leads Galaxy II with 10 goals and five assists and has appeared in every match for LA. His 10 goals and five assists rank third best in the league in each category. Adrián González has also recorded five assists for LA and recorded a goal and an assist against local rival LAFC on July 12.

Galaxy II has allowed 41 goals in their 19 matches played this season, the second most in MLSNP. LA must aim to contain the Austin offense in order to make their way into the playoff picture as the end of the season nears.
