Austin FC II announced today the team signed midfielder Leo Torres and defender Chris Pinkham to its MLS NEXT Pro roster. Both players join ATXFC II on a one-year deal through the end of the 2023 season with additional Club options for the 2024 and 2025 seasons.
“Chris is coming off a stellar collegiate career at the University of New Hampshire, and Leo is one of the top young talents from central Texas,” said Austin FC Director of Player Personnel Sean Rubio. “We’re happy to have both of them join Austin FC II.”
Torres is a 19-year-old attacking midfielder originally from Devine, Texas who spent much of his youth career with the San Antonio FC Academy. He became the youngest ever player at the time to sign a USL Championship contract in February 2019 at 15 years and 23 days old and made his professional debut for San Antonio FC in August 2020.
He made nine (9) total senior appearances for SAFC, and later spent part of the 2021 season and the entire 2022 season on loan with Real Monarchs, where he scored two (2) goals across 18 appearances in the USL Championship and MLS NEXT Pro.
Pinkham, a 24-year-old fullback from New Hampshire, played five (5) seasons for UNH at the NCAA Division I level from 2018 to 2022. He was a major contributor to the program’s success during his time there, recording three (3) goals and 10 assists in 65 matches.
During Pinkham’s career at UNH, the Wildcats won four (4) America East Conference championships – including three consecutive titles in 2018, 2019, and 2020 – and appeared in the NCAA Tournament in five (5) consecutive seasons.
