Austin FC II fell in a 2-1 defeat to LAFC 2 on Friday night at St. David's Performance Center.
The match was tightly contested from the start. ATXFC II goalkeeper Aaron Cervantes had a strong showing to keep LAFC 2 scoreless throughout the first half, making eight total saves on the night. Sébastien Pineau then struck the post in the 55th minute with an effort from distance.
Jimmy Farkarlun then gave the Verde & Black the lead in the 82nd minute, brillianly weaving through defenders on the left flank and squeezing a shot through the legs of the LAFC 2 keeper for his second goal in as many games.
That lead would prove shortlived though as the visitors responded in the 87th minute through James Arteaga. Adrian Wibowo then came up with a second goal for LAFC 2 in stoppage time to claim the three points.
