Austin FC II rose above Sporting Kansas City II with a late goal from Ibrahima Sall on Sunday night at Parmer Field, earning a 1-0 home win.
Austin FC Academy product Christian Ayala earned his first start for the Verde & Black in teh match. A surprise downpour in the opening minutes didn’t slow Austin as fellow Academy product Erick Feliciano knocked an attempt a little too wide off the left post and Stefan Dobrijevic doubled the pressure with an attempt four minutes later off the crossbar, though neither team was able to find the net by the half.
The Verde & Black doubled their shot attempts after the half and were finally rewarded for their offensive efforts in the 89th minute, when Sall snuck in the box to tap in a cross from Diego Abarca and give Austin all three points.
