U.S. Soccer announced today that Austin FC II midfielder Micah Burton has been called up to the U.S. U-17 Men’s Youth National Team (MYNT) for the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Indonesia, taking place from November 10 through December 2.

The U.S. U-17 MYNT is part of Group E, in which it will face Korea Republic on November 12, Burkina Faso on November 15, and France on November 18. All three (3) of the team’s group matches will be held at Jakarta International Stadium, and will be available to watch in the United States on Telemundo. The top two teams in each group will automatically advance to the knockout rounds, while the four (4) best third-place teams will also move on.

The U.S. U-17 MYNT is making a record 18th appearance in the FIFA U-17 World Cup. 38 players who have represented the U.S. at the tournament have gone on to play for the U.S. Senior Men’s National Team, including 10 members of the 2022 FIFA World Cup roster in Qatar.

Burton previously represented the U.S. U-17 MYNT at the Concacaf U-17 Championship in February 2023, appearing in six (6) matches including the tournament final against Mexico. He recorded three (3) goals, scoring against Trinidad & Tobago, Dominican Republic, and Canada in the semifinal. Burton has made 12 total appearances for the U.S. U-17 MYNT, scoring five (5) goals in 611 minutes.

Burton is 1 of 5 current or former Austin FC Academy players to earn a youth national team call-up so far in 2023, alongside Owen Wolff (U.S. U-20), Ervin Torres (U.S. U-16), Gavin Wolff (U.S. U-15), and Viggo Ortiz (Mexico U-15).
