Austin FC II fell in a 2-1 defeat against Portland Timbers 2 on Sunday afternoon at Providence Park.
Austin opened the scoring early in the teams’ only meeting of the 2026 MLS NEXT Pro season. A beautiful long ball from Jules Bery found Stefan Dobrijevic in open space for his seventh goal of the year. The Verde & Black’s next opportunity came later in the first half when the Timbers blocked a shot by Diego Abarca as the visitors went into the half on top.
Daniel Cervantes leveled the match from the penalty spot in the 59th minute though, and a late goal by Alex Bamford secured the win for Portland in stoppage time after a tense final few minutes with multiple attempts from both sides and a red card to each.
