Austin FC II scored three goals in the opening 13 minutes of play to earn a 3-0 win over North Texas SC on Wednesday night at Parmer Field at St. David’s Performance Center. The victory extends the team’s perfect home record thus far to three wins in three matches and improves its overall record to an unbeaten 3-0-1 (10 points).
In the eighth-minute, Valentin Noël dribbled through defenders and got fouled in the box to earn a penalty kick. The Frenchman drilled the kick to the top corner to open the scoring. Four minutes later, a turnover by North Texas SC gave Noël space in the box to score again, completing his second brace in the first four games of the MLS NEXT Pro season.
Austin added a third goal one minute after Noël’s second. Alfonso Ocampo-Chávez intercepted a backpass, escaped the goalie and rolled the ball into the net to put ATXFC II up 3-0 with less than 13 minutes on the clock.
As the game wore on, Austin goalkeeper Damian Las was called upon to make five saves to preserve the team’s clean sheet, and a strong defensive performance throughout the second half ensured victory for the Verde & Black while North Texas were held scoreless for the first time this season.
ATXFC II returns to Parmer Field at St. David’s Performance Center aiming to protect its perfect home record on Sunday, April 16, when the team will face St Louis CITY 2 at 6:00 p.m. CT.
