Austin FC II stay on the road to face San Jose Earthquakes II for the first time this season. The match will kick off at 9:30 p.m. CT on Sunday, August 2, and will be available to watch on OneFootball and MLSNEXTPro.com.
Austin FC II Outlook
Austin FC II still stands tall in first place of the MLS NEXT Pro Western Conference standings by two points despite drawing against the No. 2 team, Houston Dynamo 2, last weekend. Austin FC Academy product Christian Ayala netted Austin’s only goal against Dynamo 2 to send the match to a penalty shootout, where the Verde & Black scored four of its five penalty attempts to pick up one point.
Austin finishes its three-match road trip in California, to face San Jose Earthquakes II for the first time this season. The Verde & Black last faced Quakes II in the 2025 MLS NEXT Pro regular season closer, in which they took all three points with a 2-1 win. Austin will look to repeat a win against Quakes II to pull farther away at the top of the table as playoffs loom closer.
San Jose Earthquakes II Outlook
San Jose Earthquakes II sit steady in ninth place of the MLS NEXT Pro Western Conference standings, just one point shy of the playoff line. Quakes II are coming off a loss to Ventura County FC in which San Jose was unable to find the net despite tallying 15 total shots and five on goal.
San Jose have proven dangerous offensively with 37 goals scored so far in the 2026 MLS NEXT Pro regular season, tying VCFC as the third most in the MLS NEXT Pro Western Conference. Quakes II will look to continue its offensive threats against Austin FC II and capitalize on home field advantage this weekend.
