Austin FC II head up I-35 to face North Texas SC for the third and final time this season. The match will kick off at 7:45 p.m. CT on Wednesday, August 19, and will be available to watch on OneFootball and MLSNEXTPro.com.
Austin FC II Outlook
Austin FC II is coming off a home victory over Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 which brought their points total to 52, setting a new team record for points in a single season. With the 4-1 win, the Verde & Black remain atop the MLS NEXT Pro Western Conference standings, and they are also the league’s first team to clinch a playoff spot.
Austin now faces in-state rivals North Texas SC in the final match of the season series. The Verde & Black hold victories in all the previous meetups this season with two shutout wins. Austin FC II will look to cap off the series with a third clean sheet and three points as the final five matches of the season come into focus.
North Texas SC Outlook
North Texas SC fell to the No. 2 team in the MLS NEXT Pro Western Conference standings, Portland Timbers 2, last time out. North Texas SC tallied 12 total shots against Timbers 2, though none found the back of the net as Portland shutout NTSC 3-0. The loss marked North Texas’s eighth of the season, putting them just below the playoff places and in need of points to climb above the line as the season enters its homestretch.
As North Texas SC turns to face Austin FC II on Wednesday, the team will hope to recapture its 2025 season form, when North Texas bested Austin in the series 2-1. With forward Jaidyn Contreras back from his time with the U.S. Youth National Team in the Concacaf U-20 Championship, NTSC will look to hit its attacking stride.
