Austin FC II is back home at Parmer Field at St. David’s Performance Center for a second consecutive Friday night. The Verde & Black will host Los Angeles FC 2 on May 24. The match will kick off at 8:00 p.m. CT and stream live on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.
Austin FC II Outlook
ATXFC II showed their grit in collecting two points vs. Sporting KC II last week, twice coming back from a one-goal deficit to earn a penalty shootout win. After falling behind early, the Verde & Black responded well. Jimmy Farkarlun netted his first goal of the season off a Sébastien Pineau assist, and Alonso Ramírez equalized in the 88th minute to help the team avoid defeat.
Goalkeeper Aaron Cervantes, who made his Austin FC II debut on the night, proved to be the hero in the penalty shootout. Cervantes saved SKC II’s third attempt and his teammates made all five of their attempts to clinch an extra point.
The Verde & Black now turn their attention to LAFC 2. Both matches between the sides in 2023 ended as draws, with Austin winning both ensuing shootouts.
LAFC 2 Outlook
LAFC 2 has enjoyed a strong start to the season. The team is in third place in the MLS NEXT Pro Western Conference after nine games with a record of 5-2-2.
However, LAFC 2 failed to win both of its last two matches, falling to Vancouver Whitecaps 2 and drawing The Town FC. On its travels, the team has earned six points from four road matches.
Luis Müller leads the way offensively, with four goals and two assists to his name.
