Austin FC II Outlook
Austin FC II is coming off its fifth consecutive win over Sporting KC II. The Verde & Black tallied three goals from three different players, with Diego Abarca opening the scoring for his second goal of the season just 14 minutes into the match. Ibrahima Sall doubled Austin’s lead before the half with a header for his second goal of the season as well, ten minutes later. Marcel Ruszel closed scoring with his first career goal in Verde & Black in the 66th minute and goalkeeper Erick Lauta secured his fourth clean sheet of the season for ATXFC II’s fifth shutout win of the season.
The teams only faced each other twice in the 2025 MLS NEXT Pro season, with Austin winning the first meet-up 4-1 over LAFC 2 and LAFC 2 winning the last match 1-0. The Verde & Black currently sit four points above LAFC 2 in the MLS NEXT Pro Western Conference Standings in third place and will look to build on their team record 10-match unbeaten streak.
LAFC 2 Outlook
LAFC 2 is under new management in the 2026 MLS NEXT Pro season. Fabian Sandoval served as an assistant in the past two seasons and was named head coach ahead of the 2026 campaign. LAFC 2 is coming off a draw with St. Louis City 2 in which LAFC 2 took the extra point. St Louis City 2 took the lead in the 19th minute, but LAFC 2’s Charlie Kosakoff found the equalizer in first-half stoppage time to tie the match at the break. Neither team was able to find the net in the second half as both played a man down, sending the match to penalties. LAFC 2 made all seven of its seven penalty attempts and goalkeeper Ethan Scally saved St. Louis City 2’s last attempt to secure LAFC 2 the extra point.
Last time out against Austin, LAFC 2 took the lead in the first half with a goal by DeCarlo Guerra in the 28th minute and Austin FC II was unable to find the equalizer throughout the match. LAFC 2 will look to best the Verde & Black and continue a four-match unbeaten streak of its own.
