Austin FC II returns home to face Colorado Rapids 2 for the second time this season under the Parmer lights in a 7:30 p.m. CT kickoff. The match will be available to watch on OneFootball and MLSNEXTPro.com.
Austin FC II Outlook
Austin FC II hold tight to first place in the MLS NEXT Pro Western Conference standings as the Verde and Black come off their ninth consecutive win, a 2-0 triumph over St. Louis City SC 2 last Sunday. That victory set a new league record for most consecutive wins.
Jorge Alastuey had a role in both of Austin’s goals, scoring the first for his team-high seventh goal of the season and then supplying Vlad Dǎnciuțiu with the ball for Dǎnciuțiu’s second goal of the season. Artem Dashkovets made his first start for Austin in the shutout win.
Last time out against Colorado Rapids 2, the Verde & Black played reminiscent of their match against City2. Austin FC II won 2-0 with both goals by Austin FC Academy products Erick Feliciano and Mo Badawiya in the second half. Austin will look to continue its winning streak as the Verde & Black return to Parmer Field.
Colorado Rapids 2 Outlook
Colorado Rapids 2 is coming off a win at home over Whitecaps FC 2, its first of the season.
Rapids 2 earned three hard-fought points with strong performances on both sides of the ball. They proved relentless as they fought for a goal that eventually came to fruition in the 69th minute by Mamadou Billo Diop, his second of the season. Goalkeeper Kendall Starks made two key saves for his first clean sheet of the season.
Colorado will be riding high into the holiday weekend to face Austin FC II with a newfound confidence and hope to redeem its previous 2-0 loss to the Verde & Black earlier this season.
