Austin FC II set a new team record for points in a single season on Saturday night with a 4-1 home win over Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 at Parmer Field. The result strengthens Austin's grip on first place in the MLS NEXT Pro Western Conference and brings its points total to 52, besting the previous high mark of 49 set in 2023.
After the Vancouver goalkeeper came up with two early saves, ATXFC II broke through in the 23rd minute when Stefan Dobrijevic controlled and finished a cross from Diego Abarca. Abarca then got on the scoresheet himself in first half stoppage time with a tidy finish at the back post.
Dobrijevic doubled his tally in the 54th minute via a well-placed header and Djaka Barro added another in the 64th. The Whitecaps pulled one back from the penalty spot but it proved immaterial to the outcome.
The comprehensive victory capped off a great week for ATXFC II in which they also became the first MLS NEXT Pro team this season to clinch a place in the postseason.
