Austin FC II announced today that the Club has signed defender Dren Dobruna to its MLS NEXT Pro roster. Dobruna joins on a two-year guaranteed deal through the end of the 2027 season with an option for 2028.
Dobruna is a 20-year-old left back originally from Waterbury, Connecticut. He has represented both Kosovo and Albania at the youth international level, most recently playing for Kosovo’s U-19 side in qualifiers for the UEFA EURO U-19 Championship.
As a young player, Dobruna spent time in the New York City FC Academy. He appeared professionally three (3) times for New York City FC II in MLS NEXT Pro and eight (8) times for Hartford Athletic in the USL Championship.
Dobruna began his collegiate career at Siena College, earning All-MAAC First Team and MAAC Rookie of the Year honors. He then transferred to the University of Dayton for his sophomore season in 2025 where he started all 17 games he appeared in, ranked second on the team with four (4) assists, and was named to the A-10 All-Conference Second Team.
