MLS NEXT Pro announced today that Austin FC II was named the league’s Team of the Month for September, while Charlie Farrar was named Goalkeeper of the Month.
ATXFC II went a perfect 3-0-0 in September without allowing a single goal. Road wins over Houston and St. Louis, coupled with a home victory against Colorado, helped the team secure the No. 1 overall seed in the MLS NEXT Pro Playoffs. The Verde & Black earn their third Team of the Month honors this season after also picking up the award in May and June.
“We’re incredibly proud to be named Team of the Month again,” said Austin FC II Head Coach Jason Shackell. “The team and training staff have shown great commitment all season and we’re looking forward to continuing that work in the playoffs.”
Farrar was in net for the Houston and Colorado clean sheets, making six saves (including a penalty save) in total across the two matches. Those shutouts were Farrar’s sixth and seventh in a row, setting new MLS NEXT Pro goalkeeper records for consecutive shutouts and minutes played without conceding.
Austin FC II begins its 2026 postseason campaign on Sunday, October 18 against the winner of San Jose Earthquakes II and Tacoma Defiance. The match will kick off at 7:30 p.m. CT kickoff at Parmer Field at St. David’s Performance Center.
