Sall, Stefan Dobrijevic, and Marcel Ruszel made their first starts in Verde & Black. Austin FC II lit up Parmer Field early with an opening goal from Sall in the 19th minute, created off a forced turnover by Djaka Barro. Thomas doubled the lead with another goal just before the break.
Ventura County came back to even the score with two goals in three minutes late in the second half, sending the match to penalties for the first time in Austin's 2026 season.
