ATXFC II Rises To Second Place with 3-0 Away Win at SKC II

Austin FC II furthered its team-record unbeaten streak to 10 matches and earned its fifth consecutive win with a 3-0 win over Sporting KC II on Friday night, closing the month of May unbeaten.

Diego Abarca opened scoring for his second goal of the season in his 20th career start for ATXFC II. A ball from Riley Thomas set Abarca up for a left footed shot to the lower right corner. Ibrahima Sall doubled the lead just ten minutes later with a committed dive through the box to head in his second goal of the season.  

Marcel Ruszel tucked in a ball from Stefan Dobrijevic after Thomas leaves it to roll through for Ruszel’s first career goal in Verde & Black to extend the lead to 3-0 in the 66th minute.  

Neo Che subbed in for his first minutes in Verde & Black and goalkeeper Erick Lauta made multiple key saves to secure his fourth clean sheet of the season. With Friday’s win, Austin FC II moved into 2nd place in the MLS NEXT Pro Western Conference.
