Austin FC, H-E-B and 512 Food Co. Introduce First Ever Queso Cup Competition

Austin FC, H-E-B and 512 Food Co. have partnered to bring you the first 512 Food Co. Queso Cup pres. by H-E-B. The contest was unveiled on Monday with submissions due by May 10. To enter the competition CLICK HERE.

Fans have one week to send in their best queso recipes, and will be looking for ones that are tried and true -- ideally ones that have been mainstays for local Austinites.

“This is for the home cook. This is for the people that have their home recipes that they have developed,” said Sam Boisjoly, Executive Chef of 512 Food Co. -- the official Q2 Stadium hospitality team. “If you’re a home cook, and you’ve got a queso recipe that your friends are always asking for, we want to know about it and maybe even feature it at Q2 Stadium.”

The judging panel -- made up of Boisjoly, Austin FC executives and H-E-B -- will taste test the best three recipes in order to find the winner.

The prize includes an autographed Austin FC soccer ball, a $500 H-E-B gift card and two tickets to an upcoming Austin FC match. The winning queso will also be one of the three featured in the Club’s Queso Fountain -- which is set to be the signature Austin FC queso experience according to Boisjoly.

One of the most authentic Austin traditions, queso is a dish that almost everyone has their own version of. Submissions can include up to six ingredients, which should be able to be crafted together to create a version that can be produced for a large audience. They will be judged on the creativity, tastiness and texture -- along with the ease with which the dish can be scaled.

If you’re looking for a leg up on the competition, Boisjoly has a tip.

“I encourage people to be creative with textures.”

512 Food Co. is the official hospitality team of Q2 Stadium. In collaboration with a diverse variety of local partners, 512 Food Co. curates every detail of the food and beverage experience at Q2 Stadium across concessions, suites, clubs and catering.
