2018-19 Prva Liga Champion will join Austin FC on loan from 15-time Slovenian Champion NK Maribor effective March 15, 2021; Defender will be under contract with Austin FC through the 2021 season with a Club option at the end of the season to permanently acquire Kolmanič
Austin, Texas - Austin FC, the 27th club in Major League Soccer (MLS), announced today that the Club has acquired 21-year-old Slovenian defender and 2018-19 PrvaLiga Champion Žan Kolmanič on loan ahead of the Club’s inaugural 2021 season. Per League and Club policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Pending the receipt of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) and P-1 Visa, Kolmanič will occupy an international roster spot. The Slovenian international is set to join Austin FC mid-March, 2021.

Kolmanič (pronounced “Jhan CALL-ma-nitch”) joins ATXFC after spending the 2017-21 seasons with 15-time Slovenian PrvaLiga Champion NK Maribor, where he made 45 appearances (43 starts) and contributed six (6) assists across all competitions, helping NK Maribor capture the 2018-19 PrvaLiga Championship. Kolmanič also made seven (7) appearances (seven (7) starts) in the 2017-18 and 2018-19 UEFA Youth League with the NK Maribor U-19 side.
At the international level, the native of Murska Sobota, Slovenia, has made 39 combined appearances with the U-21, U-19, U-18, U-17 and U-16 Slovenian National Teams.
